On Saturday September 13th, more than 50 classic Mercedes-Benz models and their owners gathered at the New Jersey 1700s estate of Mercedes-Benz club member John Bleimaier. Bleimaier, also a contributor to Classic Cars Today, offered M-B club attendees a well-rounded hot and cold food selection including some great German brats.

Everyone present was able to cast a vote for their favorite car, resulting in multiple winners based on the type and vintage of their classics. Additionally, several “best in show” awards were given out by prominent Mercedes restorers Bob Platz and Jaime Kopchinski who were present.
But perhaps most fun was setting up an autocross course with cones in Bleimaier’s back field, open to anyone who wanted to lawn sprint their own vehicle around the (somewhat) high grass. Click on the image below to see our short YouTube video featuring a lap by each of the six participants. We’re quick to point out that thanks to the sturdy, original construction of these old Benzes, none of them were damaged in any way.
