When Bonfire of the Vanities was made into a movie in 1991, Tom Hanks was cast as Sherman McCoy and Melanie Griffith was cast as Maria. His car in the movie was not an SL two-seat roadster, but a new 1991 560SEL sedan – probably because it commanded a higher pricetag than any other Mercedes at that time. We have to agree it was more fitting for a Wall Street master of the universe though.
